Nigeria operates the largest education system in Africa. The National AI Innovation Programme exists to ensure the planners, administrators, and institutional leaders who govern that system are equipped to lead it in the age of artificial intelligence.
The Opportunity
01A settled national mandate
Most countries must assemble multi-agency coalitions before sector-wide capacity-building can begin. Nigeria does not face that obstacle. The institutional architecture exists, the mandate is settled, and the national certification framework is operational. NAIP builds on that foundation.
02A federated model
NIEPA serves as the national coordinating and standards-setting institution. The agencies and institutions across the education sector retain operational ownership of training delivery within their own mandates, aligning to nationally approved standards. The result is national coherence without central overreach.
03Built for international partnership
The Programme is structured from inception to engage international academic, technology, and funding partners — at a scale commensurate with the significance of Nigeria's education sector. This international partnership capability is led by Ekenua & Co Limited, the Programme's architect and strategic implementation partner.

Our Vision
To establish NIEPA as the national centre of excellence for AI-enabled education governance — building, certifying, and coordinating AI capability across the Nigerian education sector workforce, and positioning Nigeria among the leading nations in AI-enabled public administration in education.
An Institutional Partnership
NAIP is led by NIEPA as its national anchor and institutional owner. The Programme was designed, and is implemented, in partnership with Ekenua & Co Limited serving as Programme Architect, Strategic Implementation Partner, and Lead Funding Advisor. Together, the partnership combines NIEPA's national mandate and institutional authority with international programme design, partnership development, and delivery capability.
